Piano Lessons

I find lessons work well at the following lengths. Regardless of the time you choose, I'll make your lessons fun and interesting.

45 minute lesson
A good amount of time to make great progress without getting overwelmed, yet short enough for young children and anyone who wants to dip their toe in the water without getting too wet!
60 minute lesson
For those who want to accelerate their learning, or who are focussed on passing their RCM Exams.

Please read my policies as well so you understand more about scheduling, cancelation and payment.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe your piano lesson should be fun but also challenging. I'll keep the content varied and appropriate for your level, and each lesson will have a different musical story to keep things interesting.

We'll study some musical history and theory to help you understand the music's context, while at the same time encouraging your creativity and excitement in the musical pieces we'll play.

At the start of each lesson we'll set a short term goal which we will do our best to achieve by the end of the lesson, and this will fit in with the long term goals we'll set at the start of each new semester and review periodically inbetween.

The piano is a challenging instrument to play and it will take hard work and dedication to reach a reasonable standard. I'll encourage you to practice inbetween lessons, but I will help by giving you techniques to keep your motivation high and to prevent you from becoming discouraged by too much repetition.

I love working with my students to help them achieve their musical ambitions, whatever their level and ability.
